GrassWatch: A new initiative for monitoring grass growth

News Date: 07.04.2010

GrassWatch is an new initiative sponsored by EBLEX that has been launched at 10 agricultural colleges across England with the aim of helping beef and sheep producers with their grazing management.

The colleges have chosen a range of different sites to help farmers find at least one which is relevant to their sitiuation. The colleges have chosen good, bad and average sites, which include new re-seeds and environmental grazing. Information on grass growth and quality is monitored at three fields on each college farm and the results are posted fortnightly on the Farmers Weekly website along with comments, videos and publications on grass growth from experts and producers who farm near-by.

EBLEX is also running a some free meetings around the country with a focus on grazing including Grazing and Health for the Summer Season in Essex and Grazing and Liver Fluke at Warwickshire College which will also provide an opportunity to hear more about the GrassWatch project.
